It is used alone or with other medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis (A condition in which the body attacks its joints, causing pain, swelling, and loss of function) in adults who are unable to take or do not respond to other medications. It is also used to treat psoriatic arthritis (A condition that causes joint pain and swelling, and scales on the skin). It is also indicated for treating adult patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis.

Other uses of Tofajak 5mg tablet include ankylosing spondylitis (inflammatory disease of the spine). It is also used to treat active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis, a long-term disease mainly causes pain and swelling of your joints in patients 2 years of age and older. The medicine works by decreasing the activity of the immune system. Inform your physician if you have a severe blood infection, active tuberculosis, and liver problems. Inform your healthcare professional if you have any symptoms of an infection, such as fever, sweating, chills, muscle aches, cough, shortness of breath, weight loss, skin sores, difficulty or pain when swallowing, diarrhea, or stomach pain. Before initiating the treatment, inform your physician if you have kidney, heart, lung, or liver problems, a history of tuberculosis, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, and also if you are a current or past smoker.
