Introduction of Azee 250mg Tablet

Azee 250mg Tablet contains Azithromycin 250mg, an antibiotic belonging to the macrolide group. It is used to treat various bacterial infections affecting parts of the body such as the respiratory tract, throat, sinuses, ears, lungs, skin and certain other areas. It may also be prescribed for selected sexually transmitted bacterial infections and other susceptible infections.

Azee 250mg works by stopping susceptible bacteria from producing proteins that are essential for their growth and multiplication. It does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or influenza.

Azee 250mg is a prescription antibiotic and should be used only according to the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.

How Azee 250mg Works

Azee 250mg contains azithromycin, which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis.

Bacteria need specific proteins to grow, multiply and survive. Azithromycin binds to bacterial ribosomes and interferes with the production of these essential proteins. This inhibits the growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria and helps the body’s immune system clear the infection.

Safety Advice

Antibiotic use: Azee 250mg should be used only when prescribed for an appropriate bacterial infection. Unnecessary antibiotic use can contribute to antibiotic resistance.

Allergy: Tell your doctor if you have previously experienced an allergic reaction to azithromycin, erythromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.

Liver problems: Inform your doctor if you have liver disease or previously developed liver problems or jaundice after taking azithromycin.

Heart rhythm: Tell your doctor if you have a history of abnormal heart rhythm, prolonged QT interval, significant heart disease, or low potassium or magnesium levels. Azithromycin can rarely affect heart rhythm.

Severe diarrhoea: Contact your doctor if you develop severe, persistent or bloody diarrhoea during or after treatment.

Pregnancy: If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or think you may be pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Azee 250mg.

Breastfeeding: Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting treatment.

Drug interactions: Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements you take.

Antacids: If you take aluminium- or magnesium-containing antacids, ask your doctor or pharmacist about appropriate timing with azithromycin.

Children: Azee 250mg may be prescribed to children in certain situations, but the dose must be determined by a doctor, often according to the child’s weight and the infection being treated.

Important: Do not share Azee 250mg with another person or use leftover antibiotics for a new illness. Always follow the complete treatment plan prescribed by your healthcare professional.
